Sustainable urban development

Gemina stands for development and modernization aimed at securing and empowering urban life with data and intelligence while reducing its environmental impact. A division of Hadrian AG, its objective is to catalyze the debate on policies, methodologies and technologies at the core of forward-thinking and environment-responsible urban planning, turning vision into action.

Future cities have been the focus of a decade-long debate of a dedicated working group of the Sustainability Summit endorsed by the European Commission and various governments worldwide, now brought to the forefront, for a collaborative effort to accelerate the time-to-market of eco-smart living solutions.

Towards intelligent building

Smart cities are transforming our societies using advanced information and communication technology in all aspects of urban life. Gemina fosters public-private collaboration and industry-wide exchange in this field of investigation, participating in multi-disciplinary debates and sitting at the table of innovation with public sector, construction business and high-tech industry representatives.

"Decades-long research on the topic of smart buildings has yet to generate a consensus on what the intelligence of a building is, and what enhances that intelligence. In the era of Big Data and artificial intelligence it is pivotal to achieve a common vision."

Gemina's mission is to help decision makers identify and correlate the main drivers of sustainable urban development, redesigning landscapes and retrofitting buildings to benefit all stakeholders of today's urban living: users, owners and the environment.

Turning vision into action

In 2020, a dedicated entity has been inaugurated to support a series of projects that require funding, thorough understanding of the regulations, coordination and control of the value chain behind housing solutions and industrial complexes built in line with the latest environment-friendly regulations and on the basis of today's technology assisted living standards.

"There are multiple stakeholders of eco-smart living. Today's governments, citizens, organizations and businesses, as well as the environment itself, are all impacted by the choices made with respect to building concepts, construction supplies, and smart technologies implemented in their context."

As of 2021, a Gemina Partner Program is promoted by a new corporate entity (Gemina Srl) that will bring together select industry players to streamline contributions to select projects, facilitating their active participation in forward-thinking government-led programs fostering sustainable development
